More than 30% of the drivers in Russia take disabled parking spaces without caring about the signs on the ground. Dislife, a Russian non-profit organisation, came up with a powerful campaign to stop this inconsiderate behaviour. They installed projections of a real disabled person that popped up every time a non-disabled driver tried to park in their space. Special cameras verified the presence of the disabled sticker on their windshields and if no sticker was detected, the hologram would appear to confront the driver. Watch the stunt in action below :

This is very cool idea, and should I say quite expensive as well. I really hope it works well, although I’m sure there are still a lot of assholes out there that’ll still park there regardless of the projection.

Soooo cool. I drive places with a friend who has a disability sometimes, and it’s so important that there is a spot close enough to the place, and with enough room to get her out of the car. Her parents have had to leave restaurants and other places because all of the handicap parking spots were taken up by people who didn’t have stickers/special license plates.

I think it would be a bit expensive, but wouldn’t be too bad. Luckily it isn’t a big problem around here and there a many parks for the disabled!
